Vera has been waiting for her birthday for a LONG time. For months, she would ask me every night before going to bed: "Mommy, is it my birthday yet?" Well, it is STILL not quite her birthday (June 28), but we celebrated with her Riyadh friends anyway. The theme was "Strawberries" (not to be confused with Strawberry Shortcake), and all her friends came to the swimming pool, despite a wee sandstorm. Vera was SO excited, and even sat in the birthday chair with her birthday hat on for about 30 minutes waiting for the cake! We will celebrate again in a few weeks with our family in Colorado--yay!
