One thing we love about this place is the parks. There are 3 parks on our compound, and they are all very close. Before we took these jobs, people described living on a compound like living in the States back in the 50s, when kids could ride their bikes everywhere and people left their doors unlocked. That's a fairly accurate picture of what it's like...aside from the armed guards at the gate.
We go to the park almost every day after school. I will often strap Davy in the Ergo and take Vera on her trike, while Shannon cooks dinner. Many of Vera's friends show up to play, and we stay until the call to prayer--our signal that it's time to go home. I will try to take some better photos of the park, but here a few from the day Davy turned 4 months.

This is "Tia Alli's" compound, called Arizona. They have a petting zoo, which was fun for Vera, although she was scared of the horse and definitely did not want to pet the chickens.
13 years ago Alli and I were sharing The Piso in Madrid. It is bizarre but wonderful that we are living near each other again, in the Middle East, of all places. Vera adores her Tia, and demands her complete attention every time we get to hang out.

These pictures are great! I love seeing what your home/compound looks like. And how great that Alli is there! I had no idea. Is she also teaching?
