Our first "vacation" as a family of 4...

We had high hopes for this vacation.  After being Saudi-bound since October, we were looking forward to some fun, freedom, and relax-a-tion.  We chose Sharm el Sheikh because it was close--only a 2 hour plane ride, and seemed easy and beautiful.

Our first challenge was having to change our accommodation.  We had chosen an apartment, and it was mis-represented by the owner in many ways, and we simply couldn't stay there.  Shannon had an exciting first adventure our first morning there finding us a new place to stay,  We ended up at an all-inclusive resort--a first for us.  It seemed like a lovely place from the outside, albeit it huge.  We were in good spirits, and happy to be away from Egyptian Experience (the apartment).

In the end, we had some nice moments, but vacation with 2 little ones needs a new name!  We decided to come home 3 days early, and couldn't have been happier to be back in Saudi.  :)

There really is no place like home!
These are pictures from the pool bar/restaurant outside our room.  There were scheduled activities all day, led by a Ukranian Activities Coordinator.  Hilarious!

There was a little playground that came in handy, and Vera made a new friend.

Do you see the sea way in the back?  Sadly, these are the only photos we took of the water!  Sigh.  Next vacation I will know not to EVER think that I can bring the camera at a later time, because that opportunity will never come. :)

Turning 33

Last month we celebrated my 33rd birthday with ice-cream cake from Baskin Robbins...yum!  We pass by the store every single day on our way home from school, and one day we stopped by for a mid-week treat.  Vera was in heaven, as she always is when there is a sweet involved, and loved gazing at the cakes.  Shannon promised her that we would have one for my birthday, and she talked about it every day until it finally came. She would ask me if I wanted the black one (chocolate) or the pink one.  Our good friends Kelly and Trevor and their kids (Oliver--Vera's friend, and Baby Billie) joined us, but sadly, I didn't get any pictures of all of us.

It was a great birthday!
